Negative space ... I think can be a bit confusing but the way I understand it is the 'blank' solid colour around an image. Like the dark areas (negative space) in this image taken from the ramparts on Carcassonne in France

They come to my whistle and we have at least a dozen come in every morning and sometimes afternoon too. We love to hear their warbles while they are waiting to be fed

Here's Miss Z .... She's waiting for the next plane to fly over at our 'Wings' picnic last year.

This year was abandoned due to hazardous wind conditions.

It was too dangerous .... We were all disappointed and Connie was BOGGED!

The side runway just collapsed under her weight - you can see the sunken wheels if you zoom in.

Hmmm, I'm not much of an artist with a pencil - so let's see...

I know I've used this before but I did draw this!

My batik panel from Bali.

This started off as a blank white piece of fabric.

I drew the design in pencil with the assistance of the batik master (he drew the bird)

Then I 'drew' over it in hot wax from a little metal pot called a tjanting

And then the piece was transformed using different dyes and wax blocking techniques.

I loved learning how to do it and watching the changing colours under the Bali sun.
